Haiti remains the least-developed country in the Western Hemisphere and one of the poorest in the world. About 80% of the population lives in abject poverty, making it the second poorest country in the world. Nearly 75% of Haitians depend on the agriculture sector, which consists mainly of small-scale subsistence farming and employs about two-thirds of the economically active work force.

However, the island of La Gonave remains the poorest Island of Haiti . It is called "Ile de la Gonave". It is located North-West of Port-au-Prince. LaGonave has one small hospital for a population of 400,000 people. Women in labor most of the time having babies on the grown of the hospital and under the trees with the help of midwives or family members. The hospital staffed with one medical intern and one or two nurses.

This small hospital is located in upper La Gonave and it is a two-day distance riding donkeys from lower La Gonave. People who need emergency medical attention usually die on the way to the hospital. We need to build a hospital to help save lives in lower LaGonave. We have the following donations in place:

  • 20 acres of land which was donated to us by the Haitian government
  • A 100-kilowatt generator
  • Hospital beds and mattresses
  • Exam tables and some
  • Surgical tables

  • The cost to build this hospital is $855,000. We need your immediate help!
